Living Altar
Using The Medium's outdoor spaces, this project created an interactive space for visitors to claim their place in passing down cultural and familial stories. Community participation was key, including photos and objects collected from locals.
Inspired by traditional Chinese and Western Catholic altars, photo transfers wrap the building entrance, leading to an interactive altar space where visitors are encouraged to leave behind offerings. By blending multiple cultural sacred spaces, this piece invites community members to take an active part in the continuation of their own cultural traditions.
We were one of two artists who were awarded a grant to create an outdoor installation for 2026.
